Michael Bolton rocks. And a much better video than “Said I Loved You…But I Lied” (#373).

1989…so that would make me 13-14 when this came out. This song was on many of the original mixtapes, which started making on my compact Sharp stereo system around 1990. I can’t explain what drew me to this song. The song was about lovers who can’t be friends. I think I was thinking more innocently. “How can I ask you out if I haven’t talked to you in four years?”
Over twenty years later, this song winds up in my countdown for reasons of nostalgia, as many songs do. (Nostalgic for unhappy memories? I suppose. I can be amused by my unhappy memories. If you can’t forget them, laugh at them.) That being said, when I watch the video, as I’m only doing for the first time now (which is the case for most songs), I feel validated for having the song in the countdown.
